Improvement Network: site benefits

The Improvement Network website provides many benefits to its growing user base of public sector managers and practitioners.

These include:

  • latest html based accessibility standards

  • liquid layout: the site fits to the full screen of your computer

  • persistent navigation: key content themes accessible at the top of all pages

  • breadcrumb availability: letting you know where you are in the site's page structure

  • 'have your say' functionality: allowing you to provide direct feedback on content

  • use of ‘my favourites': you can bookmark your favourite pages once you have registered

The Improvement Tools section has also been upgraded.

You will find increased functionality with a collapse and expand page layout function for the 'knowing' and 'doing' sections, as well as over 70 new documents added to the tools.

The new look Improvement Tools enable you to view the documents online, download them as Word and PDF files. It also provides a Zip function, which allows you to download whole topics at once.

Content updates

Change Management has been updated to include the Change Curve and the ADKAR Model of Change. We have added a suite of new ‘Doing’ documents to help organisations and individuals cope with, and accept the need for change.

The Communication topic has been updated with a new theme called develop my personal image and impact, as well as new materials being added to improve presentation and face-to-face skills, and influence others and negotiate successfully.

The Leadership topic has been updated with materials, which examine toxic leadership, and how to handle at toxic boss. You will find new material Personal Performance under the themes of be self-aware and motivated and understand ethics diversity and social responsibility.

Planning and Decision Making has a new theme called solve a problem, which covers planning, problem solving and decision making. You will find practical resources which introduce the K-J Technique and RAPID roles for decision making.

Project Management has new material to help plan a project, recruit and manage a project team and close and evaluate a project. Material has been added to the Strategy tool to help you develop a strategic focus including looking at Gary Hamel’s thoughts on management innovation.

The Partnership Working topic has been re-written and provides new material. The new structure offers the following themes: planning for partnerships, deliver successful partnerships, end and evaluate a partnership and examples of partnership working in practice.

Content has also been added to the Teamworking and Work-Life Balance topics.
