Efficiencies from asset management

Public sector asset management features in the government's ongoing drive for efficiencies in the public sector key. It is a component of the efficiency programme set out in the 2004, the Comprehensive Spending Review 2007, and the Operational Efficiency Programme in 2008. The latter has a workstream on public sector property asset management. The recommendations in the Operational Efficiency Programme Final Report, published April 2009, were accepted by the Government in the 2009 Budget report.

High Performing Property Office of Government Commerce (OGC)
The OGC launched its route map to asset management excellence in 2006. While the focus is on the central government estate, and hence primarily covers office accommodation, it promotes best practice and offers tools that are relevant to the wider public sector. Likewise, the National Audit Office 2007 report 'Improving the efficiency of central governments office property', has wider application to public sector office accommodation.
